Homeschooling can be expensive, especially once they get into middle school and you want to make sure you have a curriculum that is "on track".
This past year, I have bought what I could afford either new or from a used homeschool curriculum sale. I have also written to The Book Samaritan, and am planning on visiting a local "samaritan" like place to see if I can find the other materials I would like to use.
I will put it plainly. I hate, yes HATE, asking for help of any kind, it is how I have always been. This year I bit the bullet and asked, we will see what happens. I will post pictures of what I receive from Book Samaritan, because it is hard to find posts regarding this. What I am contemplating (if I can make it a habit to post frequently) is adding a donation button. I don't really like this idea myself, since I don't like asking for help. Here is how it would work. Any donations I received would be used for our homeschool library and curriculum, any books I buy with these donations would be donated to Book Samaritan or our local homeschool Curriculum Closet, for other families who can't afford everything that they need. I would not resell anything. I would also post everything that was bought with those funds.
I feel homeschooling is very important, especially now with Common Core and the revised history curriculum. I am lucky enough to be able to homeschool with the full support of most of my family and my husband, I am also lucky enough to be able to afford to buy some things with our own money. I am also in the category where I can't afford to buy everything I need, so I need to rely on a little help. In return, I would like to be able to help other families that would love to homeschool, but don't think they can because of finances.
For this to work, I need to get disciplined enough to post a few times a week and pray that this will work. I will wait until I receive my "stuff" from Book Samaritan, and can share that info with you.
