I have been very lackadaisical with this part of my blog. Since my last post, I have continued to work on my faith. It has been what has kept me going, helped me start to heal. My family will always come before my blog. Without God and my family, I wouldn't have a blog. I would have nothing to share. One of the big things I have started is a prayer journal, it is a rough work, but it is mine. It helps to write things down, which is why my first set of Pinterest picks have nothing to do with homeschool, and everything to do with faith. Hopefully, there is something to help you out.
*Affliliate links are used on this blog and website - all opinions are my own* Today was our first day doing school since the 18th of December. Whew! I have three words. Exhausted. Hard. Slow. Getting back into a routine is hard. Driving all day for two days to get home is exhausting, even though I wasn't the one driving. Today was slow to start. This year, has just been chaotic and I don't know why, it has been so hard to get organized. To top things off we had to buy my son a new laptop as his Dell just quit working. We bought him a Toshiba Satellite which so far I like better than the Dell. I have a Toshiba and haven't had any problems with it. Hopefully, these pins give you some motivation, some of them are just really great advice. Have you ever run into a major dilemma, and are totally lost at what to do or how to handle it? I am at that crossroads currently. Being a very non-confrontational person, I am actually having anxiety over it. There are times, just thinking about it, I can feel my chest tightening. I feel like I can't breathe. Anger, is another strong emotion this dilemma invokes. I feel it so strongly, it makes me want to scream. To deal with this, I have been doing a lot of praying. It helps, so do inspirational quotes and little bits of wisdom. I find the more I pray about it, the less I feel like I am suffocating. Prayer, really does work. Below are inspirational pins, about varying things. I hope they can be of use to someone. *Affiliate links are used - all opinions are my own, hopefully they are appropriate if not please let me know. Todays picks will focus on anything Christmas. As usual, the first set of pins will all be homeschool related. I keep trying to find "fun" unit studies to replace some of the usual curriculum. I think this time of the year should be a little more relaxed, more Charlotte Mason inspired. Our art class today, consisted of painting sugar cookies (with edible icing of course). We got to eat our art today, we ended up with some very colorful, sugary Christmas cookies. Yum! I had to add The Grinch coloring pages, this is one of our favorite holiday movies. We are watching it tonight. Everyone needs a little holiday humor. The set of pins below are our family favorite Holiday movies. We recently got rid of cable tv, we cut the cord. It really hasn't been to bad, until now. I loved the Hallmark channel and ABC Family Christmas movies. I would DVR all of them, now we are searching through HULU and Netflix, or using our own collection. Sometimes it is fun to watch a new movie, but it definitely isn't worth the price tag. We are saving quite a bit of money each month, by cutting the cord. We are trying to watch a Christmas movie each day, the kids love it! Do you have any favorites? If so please leave a comment, I am a sucker for Christmas movies.

Religiously keeping up multiple blogs is almost impossible, especially during the holiday season. All of the planning, trying to keep everyone happy, especially family can be stressful. This year, we are doing school a little differently during the holidays, I am "trying" to be a little more relaxed. We have been using unit studies, we are doing an Amanda Bennett study on Chocolate, I found a Christmas one, which is the first pin below, we are also going to use. I really want my kids to know the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. The first set of pins, is all about homeschooling, but they all have something to do with Christmas. Some will be fun, you know Santa, elves and reindeer, others will have to do with what Christmas is really about. I hope you find some of them useful.
This next set of pins is all about the yummies! Sweets! Macarons are my favorite, the first time I had these little beauties, we were in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Last year, I decided to make these and they are not as complicated as they are made out to be. Take a chance, I am so glad I did! The Red Velvet are another new favorite of ours. This time of the year can be fun if you allow yourself room for error and exploration. Let the kids help, tweak the recipes...turn baking into science!
I would put Spritz on here, but I don't have a cookie press. Something, I am definitely going to invest in this year. Plus, I don't have to make them, we are going to my parents for Christmas, and my mom makes the best Spritz cookies! I am going to have to call her, see if she can hold off until we get there, so the kids can help press them out. I haven't tried all the recipes above, I think the next one on my list after the snickerdoodles I promised the kids, is going to be the peppermint cheesecake bites. Who doesn't like cream cheese.
I have not been as consistent as I have aimed for. The holiday months are so busy, and as much as I want my blog to be successful, I also have to balance time with my family. During the next couple months I will not be posting quite as frequently, during the holidays my family will always come first. I am hoping to post once per week. The next two weeks are going to be a challenge, as we will be spending a lot of time with the in-laws. Homeschool Pins Monumental is an amazing documentary, in my opinion, it is a must watch for middle and high school ages. Books To Read I am currently reading the Ted Cruz book, I highly recommend it. Whether you like him or not, it is a very informative book about the inner workings of Washington, it makes me wish we could fire 90% of Congress, including Republicans. I haven't read the Gifted Hands book, but my children and I have watched the movie. These pins all lead to either Amazon or CBD, but they are not affiliate links, I will not make any money off of them. I checked out the Ted Cruz book from our local library, but it is definitely a book I will add to our bookshelf. Storm Siren and Thunder are also really good books, if you like Science Fiction/Fantasy, they are clean, they would be safe for a teenager to read.
See you tomorrow, for sure next week! Thank you again for visiting my blog, I truly appreciate it. |
