I rarely ever pay for an app. I get bored easily, so I figure most apps are not worth the money. I have found one that is definitely worth it's $4.99 price tag, it is called Homeschool Helper. I remember seeing this last year and contemplating getting it, but being naturally skeptical I talked myself out of it. Okay, was I wrong! This app has made organizing my day, the kids assignments, field trips, grading lessons and keeping attendance.
Once you set up each child, you then can enter subjects, etc.; there are 14 customizable tabs. You can schedule lessons out as far as you like, personally I only go out a few days, if something happens I can easily adjust the schedule. I am not a planner, so if I had to re-do an entire years worth, let alone a months worth I would have a major anxiety attack. The other really cool feature it has, is a grading calculator, which I love! For example, on my kids grammar work, I give them credit for the parts of the sentence they get right, if they only miss part of the answer I don't count the whole problem against them. Currently we are using Easy Grammar, and they are working on prepositions, so if there are 3 prepositional phrases in the sentence and they miss one, I still give them credit for the other two. Instead of missing the entire problem, I would only take off -1/3 of a point. Let's say my daughter got 13 1/3 out of 15 total available, I can plug that into the calculator and it gives me 88.7%, then I can automatically plug that into her Daily work grade. So easy!
You can schedule tasks, enter reading lists, and run all kinds of reports. The reports are very useful, especially if you live in a state that requires a lot of reporting, thankfully I don't. This has become my new best friend! I highly recommend it. I am new to homeschooling, this is only my 2nd year, but this has made my life so much easier this year. I can't believe I waited so long to try it.
