Language Arts
- Literature - Some from AmblesideOnline.org (for the classics), some literature recommendations from Pinterest, and books she actually will read.
- Writing - Outside Writing Class, we are sending her to an actual class for writing.
- Grammar - Easy Grammar and Daily Grammar from SchoolHouseTeachers.com. Easy Grammar is separate and not from SchoolHouseTeachers.
- Spelling - Spelling from SchoolHouseTeachers.com, I love their spelling program!
Math
- My first choice is Learn Math Fast. I love these books, they are simple, no ridiculously complicated math in these books.
- My second choice is Teaching Textbooks Algebra I. This was an impulse decision, and I got a great deal on the whole set. It is version 1.0, so no interactive problems on the computer. This was a little disappointing, but it was still a great buy. My fault for not doing the research and knowing there were two versions.
Science
- We will be using Biology through School House Teachers. Purchasing the annual membership through them, has been the best investment I have made since homeschooling the past 3 years. I wish I would have known about this wonderful resource sooner.
- I am piecing together our history through School House Teachers. The first semester we are going to be using the Civil Rights course. I am still debating the 2nd half of the year.
UPDATE (12/20/16): We love the Civil Rights course through SchoolHouseTeachers, it is just the right amount of information, with questions at the end of each day that really make them dig deeper into that time period.
- We are using Rosetta Stone Japanese. My kids are 1/8th Japanese and my daughter really wants to learn to speak, read and write it. We found a great deal last Christmas on the 3 level set.
Electives
- Photography. We are using it through School House Teachers. I can't tell you how excited I am about this course. I have looked through it and it is really in-depth for a high school course. I need to brush up on my photography skills, one of my passions, that I just don't have a lot of time for. I am super excited about this one.
This is our Freshman year curriculum. What do you use?
