Get rid of your cookbooks?! Say what! This is advice I need to follow, another area of my life that is difficult to part with. Cookbooks bring such fond memories of my Grandma, she was always baking or cooking, whether it was homemade donuts, pies, or lefse. We are Norwegian and Swedish, so yes, even lutefisk was made, yes it is as disgusting as it looks.
I love cooking, although, my family may disagree with you; but when it comes to picky eaters, mine have turned that into a professional career. My philosophy is that you never know when tastes will change, or there will be a need for one of my eclectic cookbooks. There is this big Italian beauty that graces the inside of my cupboard, I have used it once, I should donate it, but I can't get myself to part with it.
Do you have cookbooks that you don't use and find even the thought of parting with them anxiety inducing?
My apologies for being so late with this post; part of it I can blame on myself for majorly screwing up the image, and having to refix it, which really wouldn't take that long - so that is just a small part of it. The other reason, is I myself am having a hard time after Christmas break getting my crap together. I need this challenge just as much as anyone. Let's be real, some of these challenges (if you are anything like me) take more than just one day.
Let's cut to the chase, kids paperwork used to be something I had a hard time throwing out. Now that I homeschool, and I see that all those cute art projects at school, the teacher really puts way more effort into them then most of the kids; I have no problem throwing half of those away. Especially, when I am the one who liked the idea of them more than my kiddos did. My kids aren't really into projects and crafts, and that is fine by me, because the amount of effort and time that goes into those cutesy crafts (that my kids spend maybe 5 mins putting together) is ridiculously out of proportion to the actual time the kids spend making them. I like arts and crafts, when I have the time and patience to spend on them, which isn't often. Why make myself crazy, making my kids do something they could care less about.
There are some really cute ideas on Pinterest to hang those few really special pieces of art that your kids make, and I have some pieces hanging in my dining room. I plan on making one of these babies soon, I have just the place to put one. I plan on distressing mine a bit more, and they may be longer, I think these are so cute! If you like this one you can click on the photo, it will bring you to PrimsnPosies Etsy Shop, no referrals or commissions are being made, they are completely unaware of this. I think it is super cute, and for those of you who don't want to make one, I am referring you to someone who is really good at what they do.
